Port City Partners New Apartment Complex to Soon Break Ground in Downtown Brunswick

Updated: Feb 15, 2022

BRUNSWICK, GA., July 6, 2021 — Brunswick residents who want to live and work near downtown can expect more options than ever in the near future. Plans for a 170-unit apartment complex on Gloucester Street were approved by the city commision during a June 2nd meeting. The complex, which will be known as Port City Gateway, is located on a 2.44-acre parcel between Goodyear Avenue and Glynn Avenue.

The lead developer on the project, Brad Piazza of local firm Port City Partners, promises that it will be sensitive to the existing services and community of Brunswick. He says the firm's goal is to not just add new options for renters but to increase the livability and economic prosperity of the area overall.

"One of our goals at Port City Partners is to assist with the thoughtful growth of the community," says Piazza. "High density developments like these present an outstanding option that is not only affordable but that also increases the walkable footprint of the area as a whole." With more residents living close to downtown, local businesses will receive greater foot traffic. Further, the new residents can attract additional businesses, encouraging the economic growth of the area while diversifying the services available.

Current plans call for entrances to the complex from Atlanta and Macon avenues. Renderings have not yet been completed, but Port City Partners promises that the complex's design will be consistent with their other mixed-use development projects in the area. It will include a large green space in the center of the unit buildings and an event space on the rooftop. Residents will also be able to enjoy convenient access to Howard Coffin Park and Windsor Park. Past successful projects from Port City Partners include Port City Park, which is a mixed

private/public green space located adjacent to the historic Bijou Theatre building. The park has been made available for events and most recently played host to Nashville musician Nordista Freeze.

Port City Partners is opening the doors of its Historic Leotis Building and Port City Lofts complex to commercial and residential tenants in the near future. The complex offers spacious commercial units below, available event space and stylish, affordable luxury apartments above, making the perfect combination to encourage walkability and stimulate the local economy. With the upcoming Gateway apartments project underway, Port City Partners has begun to fully

realize its vision for a more prosperous and active downtown scene. Piazza emphasizes that his firm's main goal is to not just get tenant leases but to encourage a specific type of development that makes the city more desirable and more rewarding to live in than ever before. Plans and renderings for the new Port City Gateway apartment complex will be forthcoming.
