BRUNSWICK, GA., April 22, 2021 — The historic Leotis building has been an architectural fixture of downtown Brunswick, Ga. for nearly a century. Now, a new development promises that the building can become a fixture in the life of locals looking to live, work, and play right in the heart of downtown.

The over 23,000 square foot development has been dubbed "Port City Lofts". An impressive 3D-walkthrough showcases the space as combination of luxury apartments, business offices, commercial units, and well-tended outdoor space. The new video is viewable on the developer's @portcitybrunswick Instagram page or @portcitybrunswick Facebook page, as well as LinkedIn, and Youtube. It offers a glimpse at what life could be like for those who want to live, shop, and visit downtown Brunswick in a whole new way.

A slickly rendered flythrough depicts twelve loft apartment units sitting above ultra-modern commercial spaces perfect for offices, restaurants, retail, or other entertainment. Located on the corner of Gloucester and Bay Streets in downtown Brunswick, Port City Lofts offers an ideal location for those who want to live and work in the heart of the Golden Isles. Mary Ross Waterfront park sits just across the street, as does the Marshes of Glynn public library. There are also dozens of beloved local business and community institutions within walking distance.

Port City Lofts is the brainchild of Port City Partners, a development startup headed by the husband/wife power team of Brad and Elizabeth Piazza. Brad Piazza stated that his goal was to offer a development that felt seamlessly woven into the local fabric of the Brunswick community while still offering something new and exciting.

"Everything about this project was approached from the perspective that 'authenticity is key,'" explains Piazza. "From the location to the building itself to the way we divided up the space into units, we wanted something that felt like it was a living, breathing part of what we envision Brunswick to feel like in, hopefully, just a few short years."

Piazza's dedication to preserving the authentic look and feel of the building started from the project's inception and initial architectural plans. The iconic look of the Leotis building, from its barrel roof and striking exterior down to its spacious industrial interiors, has been lovingly preserved. There's even an original antique elevator which, while now rendered inoperable, will provide a showcase for a dramatic installation piece on the building's second floor.

Piazza will also retain some of the current tenants on the ground floor of the building while adding new ones. He's also sought the work of local contractors and suppliers for the majority of the restoration work. The end result is a building that feels like a mix of something old and something new, with a heavy dose of Brunswick's iconic character infused in every corner.

Port City Partners works in parallel alongside other developers seeking similar outcomes. By offering affordable luxury housing within walking distance of cafes, shopping, and local services, the hope is that downtown Brunswick's economy will strengthen while its community grows. In keeping with this theme, Port City Partners promises that the lofts are just the first project in many to come.

"We can't wait to build on what we're doing at Port City Lofts. Our hope is that it can act as a launching pad for more projects combining historic preservation, strategic development, and a chance to offer more people more incentives to come live, work, or visit the picturesque Brunswick community. It truly is the first step in our collective vision of Brunswick coming to life."
